Position Overview
The Network Design Engineer role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including network design strategy, network engineering, implementation assistance, migration planning, service design, proof of concept testing, optimization services, and customer training. Essential Job Functions
- Technical expertise on Layer 1,2 and 3 carrier networks.
- Produce the best architecture available to support our network and customer services.
- Produce network implementation and migration plans.
- Oversee equipment and service configuration on Network Infrastructure.
- Test and Support networks in various stages of deployment.
- Assess customer networks for implementation of FBL products.
- Formulate network management strategies.
- Produce and review technical statements of work documentation.
- Provide appropriate training and assistance to FBL employees.
- Work with internal technical teams and vendor for product placement and feature improvements for reliability, availability, and serviceability.
- Work closely with vendors to test, design, and plan for deployments of new products and features.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers & "vendor" technical management and teams.
- Support Operations during outages needing Engineering support or escalation to equipment vendors.
- Develop and maintain in-depth technical and marketing knowledge of key product lines.
Requirements
- BA in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or related telecommunication industry experience.
- 6+ years’ experience.
- Telecom experience preferred.
- Technical knowledge of transport, routing and switching, and carrier technologies.
Other Skills/Abilities
- Configures, tests, maintains and troubleshoots Network Infrastructure.
- Identifies, diagnoses and resolves network issues.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
- Provide pre and post-sale technical support as needed.
- Daily maintenance and problem resolution, operating system patches and software upgrades and routine hardware configuration.
