Sunbelt Supply is a subsidiary of FloWorks International LLC, which is a privately held company located in Pasadena, TexasThe Lead Machinist is responsible for producing machined parts by loading, unloading, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine or manual machines. The lead machinist will be expected to maintain quality and safety standards, keep accurate records, and maintain equipment and supplies.Some of the exciting things you will do in this role...


  • Supervise employees in the shop, including machinist, mechanics and valve automation.

  • Collaborate with planner to assign work to shop personnel to attain department objectives using knowledge of production processes, company policies, production schedules, work schedules, work orders, equipment capacity and employee capabilities.

  • Generate, monitor, and post KPI department metrics with a focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity

  • Recommends and initiates improvements to production processes, to increase fabrication efficiency.

  • Establish and control procedures to ensure production of conforming fabricated assembly components meets quality standards and production schedules.

  • Responsible for compliance with safety and housekeeping requirements ensuring the shop is clean and organized daily.

  • Provides training, support, direction, and guidance to department personnel to continually develop their work habits, job skills and safety practices.

  • Set department goals and develop outlines for achievement.

  • Evaluates shop employee performance, accountability and provides objective feedback for continued employee growth.

  • Perform complex take-offs, calculations, and planning for unique or particularly large jobs.

  • Correctly complete daily reports, timecards and scheduling updates using given tools and technology platforms.

  • Manage mechanics preventive maintenance of machines, schedule vehicle repairs, maintenance and ensure driver DOT compliance.

  • Coordinate/communicate with the Manager and other applicable departments.

  • Fabricate parts by setting up and operating conventional or computer-controlled machine tools (e.g., lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, cnc, waterjet).

  • Review blueprints, specifications, or models of parts to be made and determine work procedures, stock and machine tools to use to fabricate parts.

  • Check finished products to ensure specifications are met.

  • Work closely with supervision and fellow employees to uncover and implement safety, quality, and productivity.

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and report any hazards that may compromise a safe workplace.

  • Able to detect and diagnose machine malfunctions and make necessary adjustments or repairs

  • Conduct and record maintenance on the machine(s)

  • Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner

A must…


  • 15+ years experience machining.

  • HS Diploma or GED required.

  • Basic math and mechanical understanding

  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goal

  • A proven machinist background in manufacturing or a similar environment.

  • Machinist Experience, Strong Manual lathes and mills, Waterjet, CNC a plus

Environmental Job Requirements… 


  • Maybe exposed to noise, heat and fumes.

  • Ability to manipulate tools and assemble components involving fine and gross motor skills sufficient to demonstrate welding job tasks.

  • Ability to lift 40+ pounds.

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.

  • To work overtime and weekends as needed.

  • Minimal travel may be required.
