The Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the software product by developing and executing test plans, identifying and reporting defects, while working with development teams to ensure defects are addressed. This role requires a strong understanding of software development processes and testing methodologies, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and develop a robust automated testing framework tailored to project requirements, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
- Prepare and execute detailed test plans, covering unit, system, automation, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for each major release within the CI/CD pipeline.
- Create, implement, and maintain test cases and scripts to validate that software products meet quality and functionality standards.
- Identify, document, and track software defects, working closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and other stakeholders to understand product requirements, ensuring alignment of testing strategies with project objectives.
- Participate in code reviews, providing insights on testability and recommendations to enhance quality.
- Continuously improve the automated testing framework, incorporating new tools and methodologies to enhance testing efficiency.
- Monitor and report on software quality metrics, using data to recommend process improvements.
- Utilize defect tracking and reporting tools, such as Jira and Confluence, to document and manage issues effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or substitute six years of equivalent work experience.
- At least four (4) years of specialized experience in quality assurance and/or quality control.
- At least four (4) years of experience testing web-based applications.
- At least two (2) years of experience with test automation (e.g., Gauge, Selenium, Cucumber).
- At least two (2) years of experience with API testing (SoapUI, JMeter).
- At least two (2) years of experience in a programming or scripting language (JavaScript, Java, Python, PHP, C++).
- Must have experience working with Agile/Scrum.
- Must have experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Strong work ethic, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Previous federal government project experience a plus
Certifications (Preferred)
- ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL), ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level (CTAL), or comparable certification preferred

- The salary for this position is $60,000 - $90,000 annually
