The Director of Publications is a key member of the R&D team at Madrigal Pharmaceuticals. This role involves working with data from the clinical development, data/ biostatistical and research teams at Madrigal in the generation of publications, abstracts and presentations, including data analyses, presentation materials and publications generation. The position is highly visible within Madrigal and requires working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
The Director will align with publication strategy outlined by Madrigal's publication committee. The Director/ will collaborate closely with the cross-functional data generation teams within R&D (including Biometrics, Research and Clinical Development), and engage with external groups on publications including healthcare professionals, experts, and authors. The role is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all publication-related policies and procedures. The title may be adjusted based on the evaluation of credentials and experience.

Position Responsibilities:


Job Requirements:

  • Ability to transform R&D data including complex clinical data sets generating figures, abstracts, presentations and publications for both internal and external communications
  • Work with the clinical development and data teams to evaluate clinical datasets on an ongoing basis in clinical trials
  • Generate publications and presentations from R&D in collaboration with overall Madrigal publication strategy
  • Partner with Scientific Communications to incorporate published data into medical materials (e.g., field medical, medical affairs training).
  • Ensure the publication development process and all materials produced comply with Madrigal’s policies and guidelines, including adherence to ICMJE, PhRMA, and GPP standards.
  • Implement best practices and efficient processes to optimize publication efforts across R&D.

Qualifications and Skills Required:


  • An advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, primarily within a publications function, with a proven track record of success in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to analyze clinical data, represent data in figures and tables, generate abstracts and presentations and manuscripts from clinical and R&D datasets.
  • Ability to track ongoing clinical clinical trial data, generating figures and analyses to support the clinical development teams
  • Expert knowledge of relevant guidelines, including but not limited to the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) guidelines, CME Open Payments reporting, and Good Publication Practice (GPP).
  • Previous experience writing and editing peer-reviewed clinical publications is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated expertise in understanding and applying scientific/clinical data for external dissemination to healthcare professionals, the medical community, and key stakeholders.
  • Experience in orphan or rare disease areas, prior launch experience, and/or experience in metabolic disorders or liver diseases is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific and clinical data to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within collaborative and cross-functional teams.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to embody Madrigal’s core values and competencies and interact successfully in a dynamic and culturally diverse workplace.

Compensation:


Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands.
