The Cultivation
Specialist/Technician provides care and support for plant cultivation, abiding by policies, procedures and operational guidelines as well as being an “on-the-job” trainer for new team members.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Duties
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide training and support to new hires and working with supervisor/manager provide and monitor training for current team-members in need of assistance
- Prepare and clean fertigation equipment, to include:
- Sow, pot, thin, weed, water, transplant, and move plants
- Spot plant pests and other perils and act before they become a problem for plant health, to include:
- Execute all activities in the veg, flower, and propagation rooms
- Track and record all veg, propagation and flower room data, cull logs and end of day checklists
- Keep veg, flower, propagation, and dry rooms immaculate and fully operational.
- Execute all activities in the mom and veg rooms
- Participate in tracking clones and moms
- Execute on mother plant and veg plant maintenance
- Inform supervisor if growing environment is out of specification
- Maintain open communication with the management team and other co-workers
- Responsible for following all operational guidelines, verbal directives, training information and policies when performing duties.
SECONDARY JOB DUTIES
- Accomplish all tasks appropriately assigned or requested

- Regulations require that incumbent be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain state marijuana work credentials.
- Candidates must successfully complete a criminal record check, Live-Scan or FBI Fingerprints requirements
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Relevant work experience in a hydroponic vegetable production or bedding plant production facility is desired.
- Prior nursery, landscaping and/or agricultural experience preferred
- Cannabis experience helpful
Technological Skills:
- Experience with automation systems
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be able to work in a safety aware environment
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time (i.e., trimming plants, potting, and regular inventory).
- Ability to work effectively and in a cohesive team atmosphere with all areas

- Warehouse environment with artificial lighting and ventilation
- Potential for mold exposure.
- Potential for allergic reaction to or hypersensitivity to the marijuana plants
- Carbon dioxide (CO2) may be encountered. CO2 can displace oxygen at high concentrations. CO2 exposure can cause symptoms such as headache, dizziness, rapid breathing, and increased heart rate; in extreme cases, unconsciousness and death can result.
- The warehouse is properly ventilated, however, marijuana cultivation produces ozone from the chemical reaction of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds, such as terpenes that are given off from the marijuana plant. Terpenes and nitric oxides can be associated with eye, skin and mucous irritation. In some people, ozone can cause decreased lung function and/or exacerbate pre-existing health effects, especially in workers with asthma or other respiratory complications. PPE in the form of respiratory protection may be recommended in certain parts of the warehouse.
