The Role


The Senior Director, Technical Accounting and Reporting will play a critical role in managing and enhancing the company’s financial reporting processes and compliance with accounting standards. This individual will work closely with senior leadership, overseeing complex accounting matters and driving excellence in financial reporting within a dynamic, fast-paced tech environment.

Responsibilities


  • Evaluate and Implement Accounting Standards: Monitor changes to Accounting Standards Codifications (ASC), SEC regulations, and other regulatory requirements, assessing their impact on the company's financial reporting. Effectively communicate updates and actions required to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Transaction Analysis: Analyze, research, and conclude on complex accounting implications for new initiatives and completed transactions. Prepare comprehensive memorandums that summarize the impact on the company’s financials, supporting decision-making in a tech-driven landscape.
  • Financial Statement Oversight: Lead the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal management reporting requirements, with a focus on the evolving needs of a tech company.
  • Audit Management: Manage financial statement audits and reviews, serving as the main point of contact for external auditors and ensuring smooth processes in a tech environment.
  • Internal Reporting Development: Develop and maintain critical reports for internal management, providing insights that inform strategic decisions in a high-growth, tech-driven business.

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in technical accounting and financial reporting, with at least some experience in the tech industry or a high-growth company environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of ASC, SEC regulations, and US GAAP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research and conclude on complex accounting issues.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead teams and work cross-functionally in a tech-driven organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience preparing and presenting complex financial reports and memorandums.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly scaling tech company is highly desirable.

When you join Metropolis, you’ll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. The anticipated base salary for this position is $190,000.00 to $220,000.00. The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment.
