Who We Need
Nomis Solutions is seeking an exceptional Modeling Manager to build best-in-class analytical models for our clients. You are curious, collaborative, structured, detail oriented and a good team player. You are passionate about big data analytics and statistical models, and have experience developing and deploying models, preferably in a financial services context. You know the math and you can translate complex analytical results into business insights. You can zoom out to understand the big picture and zoom in to any level of detail.

What you will do
Lead with Expertise. As the Modeling Manager, you will be a key subject matter expert, guiding both your team and the broader organization in the latest developments in banking and model risk management. Your leadership will be crucial in driving the innovation and development of new analytical products, ensuring that Nomis remains at the cutting edge of financial modeling. You will coach your team of 2-3 analysts, fostering their growth and ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop high-quality, impactful models.Drive Model Development.
You will oversee and actively participate in the development of predictive models that are central to our software’s ability to price billions of dollars in financial services products each month. Your hands-on approach will ensure that your team produces models that are accurate, adaptable to market conditions, and aligned with internal and external model risk management standards. You will set clear objectives and provide the support your team needs to achieve them.Ensure Model Integrity. Maintaining the health and performance of all models developed by your team will be one of your top priorities. You will implement a rigorous model validation process and work closely with client Model Risk Management teams to ensure that all models meet the necessary standards for acceptance. Your diligence will guarantee that the models delivered through the Nomis platform are both robust and reliable, contributing to the overall success of our client engagements.Engage with Clients. While not the primary point of contact, you will still play an important role in client engagement, supporting the broader client relationship through your technical expertise. You will work collaboratively with clients to understand their objectives and ensure that the models your team develops are tailored to meet their specific needs. Your ability to communicate complex technical details in a clear and accessible manner will enhance client satisfaction and contribute to the overall value that Nomis delivers.
What you bring
Must-Haves:
- 6+ years of experience in the development and implementation of econometric and forecasting models in a business context
- Prior experience managing modelers in a direct-line reporting capacity
- Proficiency in Python and SQL. We need to analyze data in a routinized and production-ready way, so building tools to do analysis is essential
- Experience with linear/logistic regressions, time series forecasting, experimental test and design, and ML algorithms.
- Objective-oriented, capable of translating business needs into actionable worksteps and insightful product. Capable of delegating where necessary
- Effective communication skills to persuade and articulate findings to various stakeholders.
- Capability to translate complex analytical results into actionable business insights and tell a compelling story with data.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Strong understanding of banking structures and rational business insights
- Familiarity with modeling standards and expectations in a banking/financial institution context, especially regulatory expectations like CCAR/CECL.
- Familiarity with best practice code and model management tools.
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. or M.S.) in a quantitative field such as applied mathematics, statistics, economics, operations research, engineering, management analytics, or management science, or relevant professional experience as a data scientist
