System Engineer, Level 3


What you will be doing!


As a Systems Engineer, you will apply systems engineering principles across the full system lifecycle—from concept and development through deployment, sustainment, and retirement. You will engage with government stakeholders, program personnel, and senior leadership to address technical considerations, resolve issues, and ensure the integrity and quality of all systems engineering work products. Your responsibilities will span multiple ISO/IEC 15288 process areas, supporting both technical and project-level processes.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Apply systems engineering activities in alignment with ISO/IEC 15288 across Technical, Project, Enterprise, and Agreement Process Areas.
  • Analyze user requirements to derive system design and performance specifications.
  • Support the development, integration, verification, validation, deployment, and transition of system components.
  • Evaluate and recommend technical solutions and alternatives for system design.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality engineering documentation, including system architecture, requirements, test plans, and lifecycle artifacts.
  • Engage with stakeholders to define, track, and validate requirements.
  • Lead or contribute to risk management, configuration management, and decision management activities.
  • Develop and manage system-level metrics, support information and lifecycle model management, and ensure quality assurance across work products.

Education and Experience:


Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or related discipline (see below) and 6 years of systems engineering experience, OR
  • Master’s degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or related discipline and 4 years of systems engineering experience, OR
  • Ph.D. in a Qualified Engineering Field or related discipline and 4 years of systems engineering experience, OR
  • High school diploma or GED and 10 years of general systems engineering experience in any process area.

Qualified Engineering Fields Include:


  • Aeronautics, Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Nuclear, Software, Systems, and Engineering Management.

Related Disciplines Include:


  • Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, and Physics.

Desired Experience:


  • Experience developing or delivering work products in one or more ISO/IEC 15288 Technical Process Areas (e.g., Requirements Analysis, Architectural Design, Integration, Verification)
  • Familiarity with Enterprise or Agreement Process Areas such as Acquisition, Supply, Quality Management, and Human Resource Management.
  • Ability to independently analyze system components and recommend design alternatives.
  • Hands-on involvement in Project Process Areas (e.g., Planning, Risk Management, Configuration Management, Decision Management).
  • Proven ability to support the full systems engineering lifecycle and deliver compliant, technically sound solutions.

Clearance Requirement:


  • Must possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance to be considered for this role.
