Who We Are
Global retail represents $30 trillion USD in revenue, but the revenue tools available to manage retail revenue decisions are antiquated. Operators in retail organizations make ad hoc pricing decisions in spreadsheets, without sufficient measurement or accountability. At Luca, we are on a mission to bring world class price optimization solutions to retail, powered by machine learning and delivered via an intuitive, data rich and configurable dashboard. We were founded in January 2023, and are backed by Y Combinator and Menlo Ventures.
We are a small team of data scientists and engineers, and serve mid to large-size enterprise retailers. As we onboard larger enterprise customers, we are solving harder and more critical data science problems.
The Role
We are looking for a Founding Senior Data Scientist to build ML solutions for our customers’ complex and real-world problems. In this role, you will work directly with the founders, the engineering team, and end customers. This role is for you if you are a superstar theoretical data scientist, and also a proficient engineer who can write production-quality code. This is a “full stack” position, so you can expect to:
Understand customer data and create ingestion and ETL pipelines
Use this data to design, develop and deploy end-to-end solutions using cutting edge ML pricing and optimization models.
Design and analyze experiments to test the efficacy of pricing and promotion changes
Collaborate with the founders to define and prioritize our product roadmap with an emphasis on the future of data science at Luca
Serve as an internal and external thought leader on all things related to pricing data science
We’re open to any candidate that feels comfortable with their ability to accomplish the above and is excited to work in-person with the founders in San Francisco. Our tech stack is powered by AWS, so familiarity with working with their tooling is useful (EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, etc.).
