Position Summary:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for leading the design, validation, implementation and operation of all network and voice related hardware, software and associated infrastructure. Successful candidates will have a passion to learn and mentor others on technologies including but not limited to: Data Center, Networking, SD-WAN, Wireless, Security devices and appliances, VOIP and VPN. This position is part of a team that is responsible for assuring uninterrupted 7x24x365 stability and availability of all voice, network and wireless services throughout the enterprise.
The Senior Network Engineer needs an advanced and continually developing understanding of modern network hardware, software and cloud technologies and how to design, implement and maintain high availability solutions.
Primary Responsibilities, Essential Functions and Requirements:
- Design technology solutions for clients using modern technologies and best-practice methods.
- Provide validation for new project and technology designs and implementations.
- Lead installation and implementation of technology solutions.
- Assist with troubleshooting and break-fix activities for operational technologies.
- Monitor customer requests and trouble ticket queues to ensure timely delivery of support.
- Perform ongoing maintenance activities on network, voice and security technologies.
- Research and validate system change and upgrade activities.
- Coordinate with 3rd party vendors for troubleshooting, support and implementation of solutions.
- Create and manage thorough documentation for supported technology solutions.
- Collaborate on the development and communication of Collegis technology standards and best practices.
- Participate in On-Call rotation.
- Assist with other IT related projects and activities as determined by business need.
- Working technical knowledge of all production technologies, including but not limited to:
-Cisco and Juniper Routers -Cisco, Extreme Networks, HP/Aruba, Juniper and Arista switches-Cisco, Palo Alto and Fortinet security appliances-F5 and A10 load balancers-Meraki, Extreme Networks, Aruba and Arista Wireless Infrastructure Technologies
- 5 Years of experience independently designing and implementing solutions from scratch.
- 10 Years of hands-on experience managing network equipment.
- Highly confident in troubleshooting advanced protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
- Strong Verbal and Written communication and documentation skills.
Requirements
Education, Certifications and Licensures:
- CCIE or similar Advanced Network Certifications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent field preferred.
- Certifications in Network Security technologies such as Security+ or CISSP preferred.
Remote/Hybrid Policy:
This role offers the flexibility of a fully remote environment. However, in alignment with our commitment to collaboration and team engagement, candidates within a 60-mile radius of our Chicago, IL headquarters will be expected to follow a hybrid schedule, working onsite 1-2 days per week to support in-person connection and cross-functional partnership.
