About the Role


We are seeking a Controller to join our Finance team and lead the accounting and financial operations of our growing global software business. This role is ideal for a highly analytical, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment and can build scalable accounting processes that support growth and innovation.The Controller will play a key role in managing the company’s accounting systems and processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and delivering timely, accurate financial reporting.

This position partners closely with the CFO, and department heads to provide financial clarity and strategic insight.

Location:

This position can be remote or hybrid and is open to candidates based in CA, FL, IL, IN, NC, MI, OR, SC, TN, TX, UT, WA, and WI. Local candidates have the option to work out of our offices located in Portland, Oregon, and Libertyville, Illinois.

What You'll Contribute


  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Manage and optimize NetSuite, ensuring data integrity, streamlined workflows, and system automation.
  • Oversee integrations between NetSuite and supporting systems, including Maxio (SaaS billing/revenue recognition) and Salesforce (CRM).
  • Partner with external tax, audit, and compliance advisors to ensure full financial transparency and adherence to applicable regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with the CFO.
  • Provide insights to leadership through financial modeling and analysis to guide decision-making.
  • Works closely with audit and tax professionals to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and smooth audit activities throughout the year.
  • Mentor and manage accounting team members or outsourced accounting partners as the team scales.

What You Bring to the Team


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in SaaS or software environments.
  • NetSuite experience required, proven expertise in system setup, reporting, and optimization.
  • Maxio (formerly SaaSOptics) and Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition for software/SaaS businesses.
  • Experience managing monthly close, consolidations, and reporting for multi-entity operations.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working autonomously in a remote environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and implement scalable systems.

Bonus Points


  • Exposure to multi-currency or international operations.
  • CPA certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with FP&A collaboration or budget forecasting.
  • Prior experience in a startup or high-growth tech company.

What We Offer


  • Competitive salary - We believe in transparency and fairness in our hiring process. This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $100,000 - $120,000. Offers will generally fall within this range and take into account various factors, including the responsibilities of the position, location of the applicant, experience, skill set, internal pay equity, and other relevant qualifications of the applicant. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply, regardless of where they may fall within the stated range.
