About the Role

Trueline’s Client is hiring a Civil Superintendent to run field operations for airfield and civil projects (~$2–3M). Work focuses on earthwork, grading, lime stabilization, subgrade prep, and coordination of subcontracted paving/concrete for taxiways and runways. This is a traveling weekday role within Texas (home most weekends).

What You’ll Do

  • Lead day-to-day site operations: planning, sequencing, and field execution.
  • Verify grades/elevations and subgrade quality—get the dirt work right to protect everything above it.
  • Coordinate and hold subs accountable (earthwork, stabilization, concrete/asphalt, striping) for safety, quality, and schedule.
  • Implement the company’s professional 3-month look-ahead schedule; read/understand CPM and adjust field plans accordingly.
  • Direct survey/testing and QA/QC; confirm densities, lines/grades, and tolerances before paving.
  • Manage field documentation: dailies, deliveries, timecards, inspections, photos, and safety logs.
  • Lead safety meetings and enforce site safety and traffic control.
  • Communicate proactively with the PM/owner on progress, risks, and needs.
  • Typical crew size ~10–15; optimize equipment utilization and production rates.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong civil/site field background running self-perform earthwork and coordinating paving/concrete.
  • Airport/airfield experience preferred (TXDOT Aviation/FAA exposure a plus), but strong civil supers from roads/heavy civil will be considered.
  • Sharp organization and attention to detail—especially with grades/elevations.
  • Able to read/execute plans, specs, and schedules; anticipate materials, crews, and inspections.
  • Proficient with Fieldwire (tablet/laptop provided); Procore/Bluebeam experience transfers easily.
  • Calm, accountable leader who keeps moving parts aligned and work flowing.

Travel & Logistics

  • Weekday travel to jobs within a ~3-hour radius (e.g., Lufkin, Freeport); company-paid hotel and per diem or higher per diem if arranging own lodging.
  • Company vehicle or monthly vehicle allowance—candidate preference.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base + benefits DOE
