Summary: 


The Certified Medical Assistant is part of the 360 Neighborhood Wellness Centers’ Integrated Care Team.  360 Neighborhood Wellness Center is Neighborhood Service Organization’s integrated primary care and behavioral health home.  The MA is responsible for maintaining patient flow, performing intake, collecting vital signs, medications, and relevant health information, performing point of care labs and tests, vaccine administration, phlebotomy, referral processing, and administrative duties under direct supervision of licensed medical staff member and providers.

Responsibilities: 


  • Assist with clinic flow
  • Perform intake and obtain vital signs
  • Interview patients and document basic medical, family, and social history
  • Perform medication reconciliation
  • Organize and schedule appointments
  • Update and file medical records, clinical documentation, and insurance reports
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms 
  • Assist in coordination of Telehealth services
  • Process referrals and imaging orders
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records
  • Assist with immunization inventory, ordering, and reporting
  • Assist in ordering and organizing supplies and maintaining inventory log 
  • Receives and treats all patients with the utmost respect and professionalism.
  • Performs a wide variety of clerical duties and cross train for front office duties including preparing routine correspondence, filing, photocopying, faxing, and answering the telephone and directing calls as needed,
  • Attends and actively participates in all team and staff meetings and related continuing education programs.
  • Participate in ongoing trainings as required by supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor

Professional Skills:


  • Demonstrates good clinical skills routine to a medical assistant including, but not limited to:

  • Medical examinations 
  • Perform phlebotomy and laboratory services
  • Administer immunizations
    • Performs clinic procedures as directed by providers
    • Perform clinical tests including, but not limited to urine dips, urine pregnancy tests, fingerstick glucose, visual tests, auditory screens, peak flows, and EKGs and others as directed.
    • Scheduling/rescheduling patients
    • Insurance verification
    • Answering phones
    • Manage Athena Net (Electronic Medical Record) and other databases as needed
    • Communicate with patients and direct patient-related messages appropriately
    • Prepare and process patient paperwork
    • Comply with and adhere to department and NSO policies and procedures.  
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Professional, courteous and prompt customer service, both in-person and over the phone 
    • Maintains technological skills necessary to perform data entry, manage team calendars/schedules, and create company reports and other documents as required
    • Wiliness/ability to learn new software programs as needed.
    • Multi-tasking and creative thinking/problem solving skills
    • Keeps a safe and clean work area by complying with all NSO procedures, rules, and regulations.
    • Supports continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
    • Adhere to established quality and performance improvement standards.  
    • Work effectively with others to accomplish goals/resolve problems.   
    • Organize work well and use time effectively, including time-management techniques.
    • Maintain consistent work attendance and reports to work on time and as scheduled. 
    • Professionally represents NSO and promotes NSO mission and vision statements. 
    •  Models the Pillars and guiding principles of NSO at all times.
    • Promote a harmonious work environment.
    • Is open to new approaches and takes steps to increase knowledge, skills and abilities, both from within and outside NSO.

    Candidate Requirements:


    • High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
    • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant 
    • At least 2 years of professional experience in an outpatient care setting, Primary Care experience preferred
    • Current CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association for adult, child, infant and obstructed airway.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to pick up additional software, and Athena electronic medical record (EMR).
    • Must have reliable transportation
