ForeFlight is looking for a motivated software engineer to join our Engineering team. This individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining our backend systems used to support a new initiative in the Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) and Advanced Aerial Mobility (AAM) space.
This position is for a technically well-rounded individual with experience building and shipping scalable web services. You must be comfortable taking requirements, breaking them down, and implementing them with well-written code. These features will span the server backend through to a web-based visual layer.Professionally, this person has a track record of completing projects independently, is driven to execute, seeks advice and direction from team members when needed, and plows ahead to completion when the path forward is clear. This position can be based at any of our three offices (Austin, Houston, Portland ME) or fully remote from select states.
A (drone) pilot-coder, or individual looking to pursue their private pilot license, is a plus.
Primary Experience:
- 3+ years of full-stack software development using:
- Java/Kotlin or JavaScript/TypeScript
- React
- 3+ years of software engineering experience building scalable web services
- Curious and eager to learn new technologies
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Bonus Experiences:
- Familiarity with SQL and experience with RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle)
- Development experience with Spring Boot or Node.js
- Experience with AWS (EKS, DynamoDB, Lambas, Aurora, SQS, etc)
- Docker
- Typescript
- (Drone) Pilot coder

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary pay range: $85,000 - $160,000.
