The Opportunity
Machine learning lies at the core of insitro's approach to rethinking drug development. The Molecular ML team supports ongoing therapeutic pipeline projects and bridges the gap between classical and machine learning approaches to drug discovery. Our responsibilities include the support of therapeutics projects in the development of clinical molecules, design and execution of physics- and ML-driven solutions for accelerating key problems in drug discovery, and creation of APIs and tooling for making the entire process reproducible and faster over time. You will join an interdisciplinary team of modelers and machine learning scientists to help accelerate drug discovery.
You will report to the head of Computational Drug Design in the Molecular ML group, and will help bridge the gap between therapeutic project needs and our chemistry platform capabilities. You will bring a strong foundation in traditional modeling and drug discovery approaches and become a domain expert in the application of machine learning for drug discovery. This is a hybrid position with the expectation of working 3 days per week onsite in our South San Francisco office.
Responsibilities
- Support drug discovery projects in numerous therapeutic areas of high unmet medical need
- Deploy industry-leading ML- and physics-based modeling tools to those drug discovery projects
- Collaborate with our machine learning, automation, biology, and chemistry groups to develop new tools for hit discovery and lead optimization
- Shape our platform and our team's culture with your ideas and experience
About You
- PhD or Masters in computational chemistry, cheminformatics, molecular simulations, or machine learning or equivalent relevant experience; PhD (0-2 years), Masters (3+ years)
- Passionate about developing state-of-the-art methods for accelerating drug discovery so we can improve the speed at which we can bring treatments to patients
- Track-record of uncovering computational solutions to problems in chemistry, biology, drug discovery, and related disciplines
- Technical proficiency with software and methods development

About insitro
insitro is a drug discovery and development company using machine learning (ML) and data at scale to decode biology for transformative medicines. At the core of insitro’s approach is the convergence of in-house generated multi-modal cellular data and high-content phenotypic human cohort data. We rely on these data to develop ML-driven, predictive disease models that uncover underlying biologic state and elucidate critical drivers of disease. These powerful models rely on extensive biological and computational infrastructure and allow insitro to advance novel targets and patient biomarkers, design therapeutics and inform clinical strategy.
insitro is advancing a wholly owned and partnered pipeline of insights and therapeutics in neuroscience, oncology and metabolism. Since launching in 2018, insitro has raised over $700 million from top tech, biotech and crossover investors, and from collaborations with pharmaceutical partners.
